What Is Involved in Video  Editing and DVD Production:
Video Editing:
Editing is a computer  time intensive procedure. The process begins with capturing the video  into the editing computer at real time rate. That is, if you have one hour of video, it takes one hour to get it into the computer for further processing.
The editing process continues by viewing the captured video using  Edition 5 software to remove objectionable video. During this process  scene quality can be adjusted in terms of lightness, darkness and color if required. This process can be done faster then real time but completing the steps necessary usually totals more than real time.
The editing process can include moving scenes from the order they were taken to some other order in the finished video. At this point you will give me your input in accomplishing this so that the finished video will  meet the purpose of the video. This is another time intensive procedure.
At this point the video  is clear of unwanted video and is placed in the order needed to meet the purpose of the video. The next processes are adding beginning and ending titles, deciding where in the video logical breaks or chapters exist and adding  beginning titles for those chapters. This also is a time intensive  procedure.
Finally, using the defined chapters, a DVD menu is added to the video. This menu will allow easy viewing of selected parts of the video as well as viewing the entire video from  beginning to end.
DVD  Authoring:
This is a computer time intensive  procedure during which the finished video in the computer is compiled into DVD format and then written to the DVD disc.  One hour of video can take two to three hours of computer  processing to complete this task in the fastest computer. The finished DVD disc is then  tested, labeled and placed in its case ready for your viewing. You will note that I offer both standards, DVD-R and DVD+R, as the finished product.  There are so many DVD players brands that one standard may not work  in a particular DVD player. Making available both standards should avoid this problem  completely by allowing you to use the standard that works best in your DVD player.
Converting your  video:
Converting the video you furnish at each level requires some degree  or all of the above outlined procedures and time involved. The Transfer  Only level being the lessor and the Advanced Edited Video being identical to the above procedures.
General  Comment:
I have tried to convey an appreciation of the unpredictable nature of  Videography in terms of how long each necessary task will take to accomplish. Every step has numerous variables requiring solutions  in however long it takes to accomplish getting the job done right. As a general rule, it usually takes longer then we are first impressed that a project it will take.
